Castrol EDGE has been rigorously tested under some of the most demanding conditions to deliver outstanding performance in BMW vehicles. In addition, Castrol EDGE is also the recommended engine oil for the renowned BMW M series.

All BMW cars and motorcycles are now filled with Castrol oils, engine and transmission lubricants and other technical fluids as they leave the production line. The BMW Group recommends Castrol in their service literature, driver handbooks and marketing communications.

Castrol EDGE and BMW motorsport

We share BMW’s desire to be at the forefront of world motorsports, and we’ve partnered with them in numerous events including the famous Dakar Rally and the gruelling 24 hour events at Le Mans and the Nürburgring. In 2012, Castrol EDGE will be involved in BMW’s much anticipated return to the DTM (German Touring Car) series. After two decades away, the near 500bhp BMW M3 DTM car will return to the grid, with 3 M3’s racing.

Research and development

We’re always looking to the future and we work with BMW in many joint R&D projects, using lubricants technology to enhance the performance of new BMWs. And as well as having a positive impact of the driving experience, our joint research and development also aims to make improvements in fuel economy and CO2 reduction across fuels, engine oils and transmission fluids.

Our role in the manufacturing process

The Castrol Industrial team are BMW Group's technical partner, assisting with advanced products and services provided to BMW Group production plants. Together we’ve been working in the development of technical fluid management solutions, as well as helping improve vehicle production techniques and reducing environmental impact.
